The Grade 3 3-D Shapes Activity morning proved to be a most worthwhile and enjoyable Maths session.
The class groups moved from one room to another as they developed and consolidated their knowledge of shapes by participating in 4 interactive tasks. These involved: building 3-D shapes using jelly tots and toothpicks; exploring the properties of 3-D shapes using geometric solid shapes; using imagination, building and group work skills to create structures using geostructa shapes; following instructions to build shapes from cardboard templates. Practical work is a crucial element in developing Maths concepts and there is no doubt that this session provided a vital foundation for the boys’ understanding of this aspect of geometry.
