The annual DPHS Science Expo gives our Grade 6 and 7 boys an opportunity to show their understanding of the scientific process of conducting an experiment. Each group/boy selects a topic, formulates a hypothesis, designs and carries out experiments and displays their findings and conclusions in the form of a poster. Interviews are carried out by judges and each year the boys are professional and informative during this process.
The standard of the work produced in 2007 was very high. This is a clear indication that many of our boys are gearing themselves towards a career in the sciences. The Science Expo exhibits were seen by parents and friends during the Open Day on Wednesday 5 September and the most common responses from parents were, ‘this is amazing’ and ‘outstanding’. We look forward to the annual Science Expo for 2008 which will take place on 2 and 3 September.
