BOE Private Clients - DPHS Cricket Festival

We are very grateful for the support we have received from our sponsors which has allowed us to grow our cricket festival into the wonderful event that the boys enjoyed this year.  Over three days, all our visitors enjoyed the fine DPHS hospitality and the fierce competition between each other on the fields.  The weekend culminated in “Pro 10” tournament on the Saturday afternoon/evening which, unfortunately was interrupted by rain.  Staff and Headmasters were treated to an evening at Mr Price Kingspark to watch a Super 14 rugby match.   The participating schools were DPHS, Northlands, Virginia, KZN Development, Grey (Bloem), KEPS, Selborne and Trinityhouse.

We are looking forward to the 2012 DPHS Cricket Festival from 23 - 25 February

2011 St Stithians weekend (Tour JHB)

Every year, at alternating venues, Prep and St Stithians get together for a weekend of sports fixtures.  The Durban Prep boys, staff and closely followed

by a most supportive group of parents went to to Gauteng for the weekend to play cricket (1stto 4th, 11A & B, 10A) , golf (top 4) and water polo (1st) against some our good friends from Gauteng.  The weekend was yet another success and an enjoyable weekend was spent between the staff, boys and parents of both schools.  Fortunately the weather was kind enough to allow us to enjoy our fixtures without any interruption.  Some great results were recorded by all the teams.

The 2011 DPHS / Mr Price National Rugby Festival

The Mr Price DPHS National Rugby Festival was a huge success despite the serious challenge from the weather over the weekend.  The visiting and local teams enjoyed a memorable weekend of great competition and friendship.

A total of 31 rugby matches took place over 3 days.  Over 450 boys participated at various levels.  Although a lot of interest was shown in the 1stteams from the schools, there was just as much interest and excitement shown in the junior and lower teams.  It was truly fantastic to watch how the teams were supported by each other through long tunnels and war-cries.  Despite the heavy downfall throughout most of Friday, every game went ahead as planned.  Rugby at DPHS has never being played in such conditions on either of the Wally Walshaw or John Smith Fields.  The match officials were superb in controlling the games as each boy found himself covered in mud from head to toe.  The level of rugby was surprisingly high from the teams in the harsh conditions.  A tremendous amount of fun was had by all and it will be a weekend that will be remembered by all for many years to come.

Our title sponsors, Mr Price and major sponsor BOE Private Clients once again proved to be a pillar of strength for the organizing committee.  Their contribution was a most generous one and each and every boy was able to benefit from their commitment towards the festival.  Numerous other sponsors and donors all made the festival possible for DPHS to once again host all the visitors.

Our 2010 - Centenary Festivals

Made possible by our loyal and valued sponsors.

The annual Mr Price DPHS Primary Schools National Rugby Festival has become a highlight on the calendar for all the schools taking part and has firmly established itself as one of the country’s top primary school sports festivals.

This year DPHS hosted five out-of-province schools – SACS, Bishops, Rondebosch and Wynberg from the Western Cape and Trinityhouse from Gauteng. KZN participants included Pelham and Merchiston from Pietermaritzburg, Highbury from Hillcrest and a Durban Development team.

As with the recent Rugby Festival, DPHS has its own BoE Private Clients Cricket Festival. Held in February this year, it brought together old and new friends and competitors from Selborne (East London,) Grey College (Bloemfontein), King Edward V11 Prep School, (Gauteng), Trinityhouse Preparatory (Gauteng), Pelham (PMB) as well as from three Durban-based schools and a Durban Development team.

For the first time this year DPHS will host a national hockey festival. Schools from around the country will participate in the Festival which will be held at the Riverside Astro, a share of which is owned by DPHS.

And with the Soccer World Cup imminent, the final week of the second term will see a whole school inter-house soccer tournament take place – 800 participants, involving every boy and member of staff.
