MESSAGE FROM THE HEADMASTER
Durban Prep is a leading South African primary school for boys.
The foundation of the school’s success is a shared vision and a partnership within a community of people of considerable ability and vitality, more specifically, loyal friends, strongly committed and supportive parents and a highly qualified, dedicated and experienced staff.
By encouraging new ideas from home and abroad, looking ahead and planning carefully, Durban Prep continually seeks to provide total quality through a wide range of learning experiences.
Above all, the school aims to encourage each boy to work hard and to take pride in achievement; to think independently; to enjoy solving problems; to accept responsibility; to act honestly; to show respect and concern for others and to develop wider skills and interests.
In a community such as this, the creation and protection of traditional values depend less on rules than on thoughtfulness, sharing, sensitivity to others' needs and participation in a constructive academic and extra-mural programme. DPHS encourages pupils, staff members and the greater school community to base their action on honesty, a respect for self and a respect for others.
Durban Prep's fine reputation for the good conduct, manners and appearance of its boys is the cornerstone of the school’s ethos. It has taken many years for people who have gone before to make the school's good name. A deep sense of pride is evident in all who have an association with the school.
The school strives to be recognised from within and beyond its gates as a friendly school. This website cannot fully convey the Prep Experience - its warmth, its friendliness, its spirit and most particularly the distinctive qualities of a Prep boy. I hope the occasion will arrive when you come to see Durban Prep for yourself.
