Comments:

I only went to the school from 1972 to 1973 and I was only aged 8 at the time. I could never remember the name of the school until I found it on google.

I have fond memories of the school and the kids.Unfortunately the only kid I can remember is David Sinclair. I'm not sure which class I was in but remember playing in the tree lined playground with my yo yo doing tricks such as rock the baby and round the clock.Im happily married with 2 kids.

I intend to revisit Durban in the next few years.I will definately drive by the school when I visit.

Comments:

I have many happy recollections of Prep. However walking up the hill from Umgeni Road in the morning and back again in the afternoon is not one of them! I have many class pictures which I'm happy to share though I'm not sure how many names I can attach to the pictures. My father also went to the school and I have two prizes prize he was awarded in about 1916.
I was introduced to woodworking by Wilkie and it has remained a lifelong hobby. I still have contact with old boys who have remained friends and last year renewed many friendships at the 1958 50th reunion at DHS.

Comments:

I was a pupil at Prep from 1963 to 1965 and had some of the best years of my life there. I will never forget the nicknames given to the boys by Wally Walshaw, some of them have stuck to this day. My old Prep & DHS rugby front row partner Antony Morgan was given the name "Molly" Morgan way back in about 1962 or '63. "Molly" is now about 56 years of age, and is still called "Molly" by EVERYONE who knows him. It came from Wally Walshaw calling him "Molly Morgan and her barrel organ", during the PT classes. He used to call me "Maggie" from the song "Naughty Maggie May".

Thank goodness it never stuck. to all my school pals I was always and still am known as "Stewie".

Comments: I came across classmate Hans Hallen many years later - now a famous architect. I am also in contact with another classmate Raymond Tunmer, now living in Canada and a retired Professor of Education (Rhodes).
I often wonder what happened to the cup for General Knowledge my parents presented to the school? Known as the Paterson Cup, I think.
